Sweet Child of Mine ~
born with such an innocence and a flame that blazes with pure potentiality.
I see this flame in your eyes. It is brilliant. Your heart is wide open.
Such a precious flame - full of wonder, curiosity and passion. This flame will light your path sweet child so I will teach you how to coax it back when it flickers.
I ask that God give me the wisdom and strength to tend this flame while tending my own flame as well.
To not make my burdens your burdens.
I know as you grow your flame will be challenged. The pressures of life plant seeds of doubt. Sweet child I will be there to pluck those seeds and then teach you how to plant new ones.
By celebrating you I will teach you how to climb the tallest mountains. You will know the strength of your flame and you will know that the power of your flame is so strong it will shelter you during the worst of storms.
But for now, sweet child, sleep.
I am tending your flame.
with so much love - Kathie
The un-mothered child. There are many reasons a woman cannot or does not mother her child in a manner that tends the flame. I'm not here to judge that. Perhaps no one tended their flame. Perhaps they are overwhelmed and exhausted by life.
The un-mothered child is without a rudder. Doubt replaces confidence. Fear replaces trust. Often they cope through Avoidance because have learned that engagement is ignored or is not safe.
If this was you then know you still have a flame and it cannot be extinguished. Dimmed? Yes. Extinguished? Not possible. This flame is the very essence of you. It is the Soul of your being, born of the breath of God. Long after the human coat that you wear in this lifetime has been removed, the flame goes on, fueled eternally by Love.
When I had children of my own I knew I was being given a tremendous opportunity to mother in a way that I had both needed and wanted for myself and for them. I would do everything I could, even within the context of my own humanity to tend their flame and to teach them how to tend to it as well. So tend their flame. Doing so tends to yours as well.
